Driving Lessons - Theory Test

The theory test is split into two parts and both must be passed at the same time, only pass one and you will fail which will result in you taking both parts of the test again.

Theory Test - Questions

You will have 57 minutes to answer 50 questions with multiple choice answers of which you will need to answer 43 correctly to pass. The questions are based on the highway code and you will be able to review your answers if you so wish.

Hazard Perception

You will be shown 14 video clips of developing hazards, in two of the clips there will be more than one hazard to predict. The total number of marks available is 75 of which you will need to score 44 to pass. You will not be able to review your answers on the hazard clips because just as on the road you will only get one chance to get it right.

Special Needs

Help is at hand to get you through and pass both parts of your theory test. People with special needs or disabilities can be accommodated for the theory test, just tell the receptionists at the driving centre at the time of booking.

• Wheel chair access
• Sign language (BSL) on screen. If you do not understand British Sign Language you may bring along an interpreter or lip speaker
• An audio version of the theory test in English is available for people suffering with dyslexia or reading difficulties
• Extra time to take the theory test for people suffering with dyslexia or reading difficulties
• An audio version of the theory test in 1 of 20 different languages if you don't understand English. If the DSA can not provide an audio version of the theory test in your first language you may bring along an approved DSA translator
